Imbolc

February 2nd (traditional) / February 4th (zodiacal)

Like the sliver of silver that appears at Crescent Moon, at Imbolc, or Candlemas, the light of the Sun visibly returns. The days lengthen, and small green shoots may appear through the snow-the first signs of spring! Our bright, young Lord, now a toddler at the breast of the Goddess, explores his new world. We sweep away winter's past and with candlelight, empower our new beginnings, accepting the challenge to move forward toward our goals, despite spurts of winter's blast still to come. A secular form of this Sabbat's folk traditions is Groundhog Day!
